Habersham Development Authority
Airport Industrial Park Water and Sewer System Expansion
Habersham County, Georgia
The Habersham Airport Industrial Park is a collaborative effort with participation by
Habersham County and the City of Baldwin. The Industrial Park Development
area centers the Habersham County Regional Airport and consists of
approximately 780 acres, including developed and undeveloped properties, and
was launched in the late nineties.
As Industrial recruitment slowed due primarily to the absence for
adequate water and sewer lines to all available and potential sites. The Authority
and City of Baldwin developed preliminary water and sewer
layouts in order to seek funding assistance as well as develop local funding
resources in order to implement the approved plan. EMI was the selected design
professional for accomplishing the water and sewer master plan.
A $300,000 Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) grant was awarded to the
Authority, followed by design, bids, and construction, which was
accomplished in three phases. The project consisted of extensions of gravity
sewer lines, 12” water line extensions, and associated appurtenances.
