The City of Blairsville
Wastewater Treatment Facility
Union County, Georgia

The City of Blairsville is the sole provider of sanitary sewer services in Union County, Georgia.  As the County Seat and hub of commercial development for Union County, Blairsville was faced with the need to expand its wastewater treatment facility.  To guide the City through this very important project, Blairsville contracted with Engineering Management Inc. to plan, organize, design and permit the project. Concurrently, EMI also assisted the City with operations of the existing facility.

EMI assisted the city with funding procurement which included a loan/grant from USDA-Rural Development.  Components of the facility included SBR technology, disinfection by chlorination and on-site sludge management.  Construction of the expansion was completed while maintaining current service to existing customers.  

This project has more than doubled the capacity of the wastewater treatment facility; and, had provided the City of Blairsville and Union County the ability to accommodate future residential, industrial and commercial growth.
