City of Helen
Innsbruck Booster Pump Station
White County, Georgia
The Innsbruck Resort & Golf Club is a residential community made up of over 500 lots, a sports complex and a golf course. The resort was originally served by a dilapidated 180 GPM booster pump station that could not keep up with the water demand during the peak tourist season. In order to alleviate the situation the City of Helen requested EMI to design a new booster pump station that could handle the ultimate demands of the resort community.
EMI developed a water system hydraulic model of the community, and conducted field pressure and flow tests which were used to calibrate the model and aide in the design of the booster pump station. The area selected for the station was located on the side slope of a mountain. Therefore, in order to keep costs down the site had to be small in size, and a concrete retaining wall was required.
The final design resulted in a packaged booster pump station that will provide 375 GPM. The station is housed in a pre-fabricated skid mounted fiberglass enclosure manufactured by Flo-pak with duplex horizontal, end suction, close coupled centrifugal pumps manufactured by Patterson Pump. The pumps are controlled by a telemetry system that monitors the water level in the Innsbruck water tank.
Backup power is provided by a 80 kW standby diesel generator that is mounted on the skid with the pump station.
